Technical Plan Review & Regulatory Approval Support

Independent review of designs, drawings and technical submissions against convention and class requirements. This is a review service, not a design office: we read the package the way an approver reads it and tell you where it will meet resistance. Where a project needs naval architecture calculation work, we say so and help you appoint a specialist.

Reviewed by Thomas Blenk: American Bureau of Shipping, latterly Corporate Vice President, Global Marine Sectors, and Deputy Commissioner of Maritime Affairs for the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

What's Included

  • Plan and drawing review against SOLAS, MARPOL, the Load Line Convention and class rules
  • Regulatory pathway guidance for novel arrangements and alternative design approvals
  • Owner's technical comment on yard and designer submissions
  • Regulatory conformity review of stability, loading and structural documentation, without independent recalculation
  • Support through class and flag approval processes, including preparation of Approval in Principle submissions for the body that issues them

How We Engage

  1. 1

Receive the design package and the target approvals.

  2. 2

Review it against the rules that will be applied to it.

  3. 3

Deliver written comments the designer can act on before submission.

Outcomes

Regulatory risk in a design surfaced before steel is cut.
Regulatory questions answered inside the package before it goes to the approver.
An independent technical voice between you, the yard and the approver.

We review against the rules. Naval architecture calculation work, meaning stability, structural and finite element analysis, sits with your designer or with a specialist you appoint: where a project needs it, we say so and help you appoint a specialist, then help you judge the result. SolarisTech is not a design authority and is not a recognized organization: approval remains with class and with the flag administration. Our reports are prepared for the party that instructs us and for the purpose stated in the engagement. Reliance by any other party requires our written agreement.
