INDUSTRIES WE SERVE

Global Shipbuilding

Fix the specification before steel is cut, then hold the build to it. SolarisTech reviews the newbuilding technical specification, confirms the regulatory basis with the owner and the classification society, and stays with the project through plan review, construction attendance and delivery. Current operating focus is Korea and Japan, with newbuildings a focus area.

The work is led by a marine engineer who spent more than twenty years of a thirty year career living and working in Korea, including postings in Busan and Geoje.

How We Help

Specification and regulatory review before contract, then oversight through construction to handover. Engagements are led by our founder, and every report names the reviewer who wrote it. Findings are recorded and tracked to closure.

What We Do

  • Newbuilding and conversion specification review, before contract signature where the schedule allows.
  • Regulatory and statutory basis confirmed with the owner and the classification society before steel is cut. Statutory approval and certification sit with the classification society and the flag administration, not with SolarisTech.
  • Plan review support and construction attendance against the agreed specification, returned as written comments the designer or the yard can act on before submission.
  • Delivery and handover oversight, milestone by milestone, with written reports and an open items list.
  • Alternative fuel and dual fuel design review support. Approval in Principle is issued by a classification society or an administration, not by SolarisTech.
  • Shipyard selection and newbuild due diligence, covering yard capability, sub-contracting and schedule risk.
  • First hand working knowledge of Korean and Japanese yards and their supply chains. SolarisTech is independent of every yard and names none as a partner.
  • Where a project needs naval architecture calculation work, we say so and help you appoint a specialist. SolarisTech is not a design authority.

Our reports are prepared for the party that instructs us and for the purpose stated in the engagement. Reliance by any other party requires our written agreement.

Planning a Newbuilding or a Conversion?

Send us the specification, the yard shortlist and the delivery date. We will tell you what we would change before contract, and what we would watch during the build.
